Who we are

The Bulls Disabled Sports Club ("The Bulls", "we") is a wheelchair basketball club in Bolton and a registered charity in England and Wales, number 1057350. We decide how the information described here is used.

If you have any question about your information, email info@thebulls.org.uk.

What this covers

This notice covers the websites at thebulls.org.uk, including the kit sponsorship page, and The Bulls Social, the tool our volunteers use to plan and publish posts on the club’s own social media accounts.

If you sponsor the kit

When a business buys a place on the kit we collect the company name, a contact name, email address, phone number, website and logo, the tier chosen and the amount paid.

We use these to put the logo on the kit and on the sponsor wall, to contact you about your sponsorship, and to keep the records a charity must keep. The company name, website and logo are shown publicly and may appear in posts thanking our sponsors. Contact details are never published.

Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

We keep sponsorship records for six years after the sponsorship ends, as charity accounting rules require.

Our social media tool

The Bulls Social is used only by the club’s volunteers. It posts to the club’s own accounts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube, and only after a volunteer has connected each account and approved each post.

When an account is connected, the platform gives us an access token, the account or Page name and ID, and permission to publish and to read the account’s own statistics, such as reach and follower counts. We use these only to publish the club’s posts and to see how they did. We do not read, collect or store information about people who follow, like or comment on our accounts.

Volunteers sign in with their club Google account. We keep their name, email address and a record of what they approved, changed or connected, and when.

Photos and names of players

We only post a photo of someone, or name them, when we have their consent on file. Anyone under 18 needs written consent from a parent or guardian. Juniors are named by first name only.

We never mention anyone’s health or medical condition unless that person has agreed for that specific post.

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@thebulls.org.uk. We will stop using the photo and take down posts we control.

Use of AI

We use Anthropic’s Claude to help draft the wording of posts and image descriptions from details such as fixtures, results and first names. Every draft is checked and approved by a volunteer before it goes out.

Photographs are never sent to any AI service, and we never use AI to create images of people.

Who else handles the information

We use a small number of services to run these websites. Each only gets what it needs:

  • Stripe, to take sponsorship payments
  • Google, for volunteer sign-in
  • Anthropic, for drafting post wording (text only)
  • Mailjet, to send emails
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, X and Google (YouTube), to publish our posts on our own accounts
  • Our web hosting provider, which stores the data

We never sell personal information or use it for advertising.

Cookies

We only use the cookies needed for the websites to work, such as keeping a volunteer signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Deleting your data

To ask us to delete information we hold about you, email info@thebulls.org.uk with "Delete my data" in the subject. We will reply within one month.

If you connected one of the club’s social media accounts to The Bulls Social, you can also remove its access at any time in that platform’s settings (for Facebook: Settings, then Business integrations). Once access is removed, or the account is disconnected in The Bulls Social, we delete the stored access token.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@thebulls.org.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
